Two labels, One direction.
Dysfunct Records continues to release The New Ways. Alongside it, I’m joining Outburst Intervals to reach new audiences.
Dysfunct Records is still here and still releasing The New Ways, most recently with The Testament EP on 3 September. Now I’m also joining Outburst Intervals, the independent publisher of contemporary music, films and editions, to bring this music to new audiences.
It starts with IONIC, the label’s mixtape album, out 5 November. In Q1 2027 comes my new album This Sentence Is False, a tribute to 90s club music: clean machines, selectively distressed lo-fi, and structures that never sit quite even.

This Sentence Is False is The New Ways’ tribute to the 90s, the decade and the dance floors that started the artist’s musical journey. The EP gathers the elements that left the deepest mark in the clubs back then: warm keyboard chords, vocal samples that hang in the air, and basslines that move the room. Vocals are also provided by Tammala Baszile and Janae Catt. It aims for authenticity, not as a recreation of an era but as an honest account of how that era still sounds to its maker. The tracks keep the slightly asymmetrical structures found throughout The New Ways’ work, so the familiar never quite lands where you expect.
The EP is also an experiment with bass and lo-fi technique. Instead of treating lo-fi as a surface aesthetic, The New Ways builds white noise, crackle and pops into the songs themselves. Almost every sound began clean and was then selectively distressed, placing polished and worn textures side by side so each makes the other sound more real. Clean and broken, old and new, true and false: the record lives in that contradiction, just like its title.
