BERLIN, Germany — August 3rd, 2026 — The New Ways announces The Testament, a new techno EP arriving September 3, 2026 via his own imprint, Dysfunct Records. The release is a bass-heavy journey through the many faces of techno—weaving minimal, industrial, and Berlin-style textures together with samples that mirror the fractures and absurdities of modern society.
The Sound of The Testament
The Testament refuses to sit in one lane. Across its four tracks, The New Ways moves fluidly between stripped-back minimal grooves, punishing industrial percussion, and the dark, hypnotic pulse associated with Berlin's club underground—all anchored by the low-end weight that has become a signature of his production style.
What sets the EP apart is its use of found-sound and spoken clips lifted from modern culture, embedded directly into the tracks. These fragments function as commentary, turning the dancefloor into a mirror for the chaos, contradiction, and noise of contemporary life. The closing track, "Bloodletting," takes this personal: musically rooted in the sound of Berlin, it doubles as a raw meditation on the artist's own battle with polycythemia vera, transforming a private health struggle into a pulsing, cathartic dancefloor statement.
First Single: Inconsequential
Ahead of the EP, The New Ways will release "Inconsequential" as the first single from The Testament on August 20, 2026. Described by the artist as an immersive, experiential minimal techno track, "Inconsequential" pairs a driving bassline with ambient undertones, creating a hypnotic, atmospheric listening experience that sets the tone for the EP to follow.
The single release expands on the original EP version with three additional reworkings, all remixed and reproduced by The New Ways himself, offering four distinct interpretations of the track.
Artist Statement on "Bloodletting"
"'Bloodletting' is the most personal thing I've made. It's built from the sound of Berlin—the city that gave me a second life—but underneath that, it's about my own experience with polycythemia vera. I'm not looking to make this track about illness. I'm looking to make it about survival, and about turning something that tries to slow you down into something that moves a room."
